Meet Marcia

A small family program, built on a lifetime of loving these dogs.

I'm Marcia, the breeder behind Cottage Farm Aussies in Tekonsha, Michigan. We're a small, family breeder, we own our dams and sires, and every puppy is whelped right here in our home under our watchful eye.

Our love of animals has shaped our whole lives. We've learned that when you care for a dog through its lifetime, it gives back comfort, loyalty, and joy in return. After more than a decade of owning, rescuing, and rehoming Australian Shepherds, we set out to breed thoughtfully, choosing our lines with care and raising puppies that become incredible, steady companions.

Our farm sits on a quiet stretch of Michigan countryside where the pups grow up alongside our own kids, farm animals, and the everyday rhythm of rural life. That mix of open space, structure, and constant company is exactly the foundation a working breed like the Aussie needs to grow into a confident, well-mannered family member.

Our Promise

How we raise every Cottage Farm puppy

Our goal is simple: dogs with great conformation and wonderful dispositions, raised to thrive in their new homes from day one.

Thoughtfully bred

We select our mates carefully and use genetic charting to maximize healthy results. We breed only purposefully, using line breeding to strengthen our lineage.

Raised underfoot, exposed to life

Whelped in our home with biosensor (ENS) work, our pups meet children, adults, and other animals, and experience loud noises, car rides, fireworks, and everyday chaos, so they grow up confident and tolerant.

Bred in small, purposeful batches

We breed in small batches when interest is at its peak, to preserve the integrity of our dogs and our program, and to give every family our full attention.

Rocky

Rocky has been growing up with her aunt Roary since she arrived here from Florida as a puppy. She has been super easy to have around and loves her time outside running and playing. She is a medium-drive dog with an easygoing demeanor. She is as pretty as a picture and loves everyone she meets. She is the most joyful dog I know and her tail spins like a pinwheel all day long! Rocky had puppies with Journey for her first litter! TWELVE puppies to be exact! She is truly an amazing mom and loved by all!

Our Sire

Dusty

He is a striking-looking dog with a big blocky head and some piercing blue eyes. If you were to run into him at night you would probably wet your pants. He has a super intense look with the temperament and playfulness of a puppy. Dusty is a large dog with a medium drive and is very lovable. His coloring is rich and unique and we are excited to welcome his puppies from his first litter!
